Our client is an RBI-registered Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) focused on extending credit to underserved households and businesses. With multiple loan products, their diversified lending platform operates at scale to drive financial inclusion and growth across India. Managing risk efficiently and responding quickly to regulatory requirements are central to their mission.

Business Challenge 

Fragmented data and manual reporting lagged credit decisions by 15+ days  

Siloed systems restricted visibility across loan portfolios  

Handling a multitude of accounts across product portfolios, the client’s teams operated in silos, with each product maintaining separate systems and databases. Whenever a business or regulatory report was required – monthly book closure, portfolio risk, NPA status, or partner collection performance – data had to be manually requested, gathered, and processed from up to twelve disparate sources. Routine reporting could take up to 15 days, by which time the information was often stale and business decisions were made on outdated numbers.  

Lack of unified customer view and inefficient PAR reporting  

Portfolio at Risk (PAR) reports are critical tools that help identify defaulting loans to assess risk levels and compliance status. However, because there was no centralized, unified customer view, manually consolidating borrower data across portfolios was challenging and prone to errors. This manual approach to PAR reporting was slow and inaccurate, and prevented early detection of borrowers exceeding credit limits across products, thereby increasing portfolio risk and regulatory exposure. The siloed data environment also led to data duplication, inconsistent PAR metrics, and missed opportunities for timely interventions on non-performing assets (NPAs).  

The critical need of the hour was to build a centralized Data Warehouse that could unify all product, partner, and risk data, automate reporting, deliver actionable business intelligence in hours, not weeks, and enable a true 360° view of each customer, portfolio, and partner.

Implemented robust ETL integration from 12+ diverse data sources 

We deployed a robust ETL framework that automated extraction, transformation, and loading from 12 disparate sources. This helped break down silos and resolve fragmented data issues, and cleansed data into a consistent, high-quality dataset that eliminated delays, duplication, and manual errors. 

Created a single source of truth across customer profiles 

By integrating borrower information and assigning a Unique Customer ID across all portfolios, duplication was removed, enabling instant checks on active loans, credit limits, and repayment status accessible to any team or business unit. 

Automated daily pipelines for near real-time portfolio insights 

We automated 16 daily data pipelines to ensure fresh, near real-time data flowed continuously into reporting systems. This reduced PAR report generation from over 20 days to just hours, accelerating proactive risk identification and management. 

Delivered intuitive Power BI dashboards for rapid decision support 

Slow, manual workflows were replaced with automated reporting and user-friendly Power BI dashboards that provided timely, accurate insights on PAR, loan disbursement, and collection performance. These dashboards empowered risk and business teams to make data-driven decisions within a day, increasing operational efficiency through automation, lowering costs, and improving portfolio oversight with trusted, timely insights.
