The client is a U.S.-based consumer lending company that provides personal loans, auto loans, and retail financing solutions to individuals across multiple states. With a strong branch network and digital offerings, the company delivers accessible credit options with personalized customer service. Its mission is to help consumers manage planned and unplanned expenses through transparent lending solutions.
As the client expanded their digital lending platforms, their ability to release software updates confidently and quickly became a critical bottleneck. The core problem: no one could reliably answer “Is this ready to release?” when new versions were prepared for deployment. Test plans lived in disconnected Excel spreadsheets, separate from development work and defect tracking. When defects surfaced in the loan application or payment processing systems, teams couldn’t quickly determine which features had been validated and which hadn’t. Release managers lacked a unified view to assess coverage across critical workflows, making every release decision feel like a calculated risk.
Mobile app releases relied on ad hoc testing across whatever devices testers had available, with approvals happening through casual Slack conversations. For software handling sensitive financial transactions and loan applications, this informal approach created unacceptable business risk. There was no structured verification, no documentation of what was tested, and no clear accountability for go/no-go decisions.
The situation was compounded by frequent late-stage rework. Without clear, shared requirements processes, teams repeatedly discovered misalignments deep into development cycles. This triggered costly rework that stretched release timelines by weeks.
Meanwhile, limited mobile testing meant customer-facing features went to production without validation across the iOS and Android devices borrowers actually used.
Scattered Excel files made it impossible to answer “what have we tested?”. Zuci consolidated all test documentation into a centralized platform that connected directly to development work and bug reports. More importantly, they worked alongside release managers and QA leads to establish clear standards for tracking coverage. Now when a defect appeared in payment processing, teams could instantly trace which related features needed retesting.
The Informal Slack approvals had created a gap: no one was clearly responsible for the go/no-go decision. Zuci introduced structured testing cycles with documented checkpoints, but the key was coaching teams on risk-based approaches. Each release now follows a defined path with clear ownership at every stage. The processes created clear audit trails while eliminating the endless “are we ready?” meetings that had plagued previous releases.
Zuci realized that automating tests on top of unclear requirements would simply automate confusion. So we worked directly with the client’s business analysts and developers to clarify what needed to be built before anyone wrote code. Once requirements were clear, Zuci applied strategic automation using proprietary TAPE framework focusing first on the high-risk, frequently tested lending workflows that would deliver immediate value. This helped test engineers shifted from repetitive clicking to exploring edge cases that genuinely required lending domain expertise.
Mobile testing presented a practical challenge: how to validate experiences across dozens of device and OS combinations without the cost and maintenance burden of a physical device lab. Zuci integrated cloud-based testing through a cloud-based testing platform, Sauce Labs and TAPE, enabling parallel validation across the Android and iOS devices borrowers actually used. Critical customer journeys from loan application to payment submission were now verified across the full device matrix before each release, ensuring consistent experiences while eliminating hardware costs entirely.
