Blind Spots in API Assurance Creating Business Risk
The client’s success depended on the reliability of its APIs powering critical services like payments, onboarding, and Interac transfers. But their testing setup had significant gaps. Test artefacts were fragmented and incomplete, making it difficult to know which customer journeys were truly validated. This lack of visibility created blind spots, allowing defects to slip into production and increasing the risk of failures in live environments.
At the same time, the teams relied heavily on Postman, a tool developers commonly use to manually test APIs during early stages of development. While useful for quick checks, it doesn’t help handle the automation, scale, or CI/CD integration required in a banking context. As transaction volumes and compliance demands grew, this limited approach slowed down release cycles and left critical integration points untested. The absence of a unified framework further compounded the problem: payments, identity verification, and card issuance were validated in silos, even though in reality they are tightly interconnected.
Turning fragmented testing into scalable, business-aligned assurance
Zuci worked closely with the client’s team to strengthen its testing maturity and build a foundation for reliable, scalable API delivery. The engagement combined tactical fixes with long-term enablers.
Rebuilt fragmented test artefacts into a structured test library
The client’s API tests were scattered across Postman, with no single view of what was covered or missed. Zuci reverse-engineered these scripts into structured, data-driven test cases supported by clean API documentation. Beyond restoring visibility, our approach created a reusable library that scales as new services are added, turning test artefacts into a long-term assurance asset.
Implemented a proprietary TAPE framework for end-to-end test coverage
Zuci standardized automation with our proprietary test automation framework, TAPE (Test Automation and Performance Engine (Playwright + TypeScript), replacing fragmented, siloed checks with one consistent approach. By validating onboarding, payments, and card issuance within the same framework, the client gained a clear view of quality across interconnected journeys.
Aligned teams on a scalable automation strategy
Quality was being treated as a developer task, creating tool bottlenecks and leaving business stakeholders blind to risks. Zuci bridged this gap by educating teams on the scalability and CI/CD limitations of Postman, then aligning both engineering and business leaders on a sustainable automation roadmap. This shifted testing from a tactical activity into an enterprise capability that supported faster product launches and compliance readiness.
