About the Client

The client, an RBI-registered Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), has been a key player in the financial inclusion space for over a decade in India. With a diverse business model, they address credit needs for underserved households and businesses. Their focus on efficient access to debt finance involves a robust risk management framework, blending quantitative analytics and qualitative insights. The client operates on a scale through an integrated technology system.

Business Challenge

Legacy co-lending systems failed to keep up with scale and compliance

The client’s mission-critical co-lending platform became increasingly fragile as loan volumes surged. During peak lending hours, performance dropped sharply delaying originations and disbursements. These disruptions had two major consequences:

  • Operational breakdowns impacting business growth and customer trust
  • Compliance risks as the platform lacked column-level encryption and audit-ready features mandated by RBI

At the heart of the issue was a 26TB+ fragmented and unoptimized database. Years of incremental fixes, costly hardware upgrades, and surface-level tuning only added to the technical debt. The architecture had reached its breaking point, unable to scale, stay agile, or remain compliant.

The client needed more than patches. They needed a ground-up architectural redesign that would deliver performance, scalability, cost efficiency, and regulatory confidence.

Zuci Solution

Re-architecting a business-critical lending platform for performance and regulatory readiness

Decoding the Architectural Debt Behind Lending Bottlenecks

Zuci began with a comprehensive performance and compliance assessment of the client’s co-lending platform, going beyond surface-level tuning to uncover deeper systemic issues. The database health check revealed that poor design and unoptimized queries had caused the system to swell to 26TB+, creating latency across loan origination workflows. The application and workflow review showed redundant API calls that slowed disbursements, while the infrastructure audit exposed repeated hardware scaling that drove up costs without boosting performance. Most critically, the absence of column-level encryption and audit logging meant the system was failing RBI compliance checks.

Blueprint for Transaction, Data, and Compliance Scale

We implemented a complete architectural redesign that enabled the client to scale across every critical dimension. The bloated 26TB+ database was re-architected into a clean, optimized 1TB system, cutting infrastructure load while making customer and transaction data easier to manage as volumes grew. A high-performance, load-balanced architecture ensured the platform could process millions of loan applications and disbursements without downtime, even during peak hours.

On the backend, workflows were streamlined to reduce data weight and remove redundancies, making the system more agile and responsive. To future-proof compliance, RBI-mandated encryption and audit logging were embedded directly into the platform, ensuring regulatory readiness as the business expanded.

Implementation with Business Alignment

Every change was carefully aligned with the client’s regulatory compliance needs as an RBI-registered NBFC. By prioritizing data integrity, system uptime, and transaction speed, Zuci ensured the client’s technology backbone supported both business continuity and customer trust.
